Automatic zoom

A screen recorder with automatic zoom for Windows

Screen Crisp zooms in on your clicks automatically while you record on Windows. Learn how to edit zoom timing, focus and level, from 1.05× to 3×.

What automatic zoom does

An entire desktop can become hard to read when a recording is embedded in a help article or watched on a phone. A zoom effect brings an important control closer while the rest of the scene provides context.

Screen Crisp tracks cursor activity during recording and adds zooms around the action. The zoom is part of the edit, so you can review and revise it before export. It is different from changing your Windows display scale while recording.

Keep control of the focus

Select a zoom on the timeline to change its timing, duration or focus. Use automatic cursor focus or choose a manual point. Zoom levels range from 1.05× to 3×, with transition controls for the move into and out of the close-up.

Do not zoom every moment simply because you can. Leave a wide view while introducing the interface, move closer for a small control, then restore context before switching to another part of the application.

Match the cursor to the close-up

A pointer that looks clear in a full-screen view can dominate a close-up. Screen Crisp stores the cursor separately, allowing changes to its style, size, smoothing and click effects after recording.

Use a visible pointer with restrained effects for instruction. A click highlight is useful when it explains exactly which control was activated. Idle fade can remove a stationary pointer that no longer helps the viewer.

Choose 2D zoom or 3D motion

A straight zoom is useful when text must remain easy to read. Screen Crisp can also tilt the composition in perspective. The screen, webcam, cursor and annotations stay on the same plane as it moves.

Use perspective for introductions or feature highlights and return to a straight view for detailed steps. Preview the movement at the actual viewing size before committing to the export.

Preserve detail when exporting

Zoom enlarges the pixels you recorded. A 1080p source still supports automatic zoom, but close crops have less detail than a higher-resolution source. Record a larger source when your PC can handle it and use moderate zoom for small text.

Export MP4 when you need audio or a longer walkthrough. Choose GIF for a short silent loop. Screen Crisp Free includes recording and editing; a paid licence unlocks MP4 and GIF export without a watermark.

Try it with your own recording
